When Brett inherits the family home, he and Drew move out of fast-paced Toronto to set up a B&B in a picturesque tourist town. But will these big city boys face friction in their new community? With dozens of hilarious characters, all portrayed by two actors, Mark Crawford’s Bed and Breakfast is a heartwarming comedy about “being out” in small town Ontario, family skeletons in the closet, and finding a place to call home.
Starring Gregory Preset as Brett; Paolo Santalucia as Drew; Directed by Ann-Marie Kerr; Set Design by Alexandra Lord; Costume Design by Ken MacKenzie; Lighting Design by Bonnie Beecher; Sound Design by John Gzowski; Stage Managed by Robert Harding assisted by Kat Chin - Baillie Theatre at Soulpepper Theatre Company, 2018.
“Director Ann-Marie Kerr’s production finds its heart in a beautifully evoked central relationship, while still going for it with all the slamming doors and quick changes. Alexandra Lord’s two-level set creates a flexible playing ground, enabling swift moves between settings and situations. Real-life couple Prest and Santalucia give technically adept and deeply humane performances, particularly as they navigate Brett and Drew’s crux moments of decision-making, crisis management and sharing joy at life’s milestones.”- Karen Fricker, The Toronto Star, Aug 17 2018
